Bed Bug Chemical Treatment Prep Instructions

Proper preparation is critical for a successful bed bug treatment. Please follow this checklist carefully to ensure the best results.

Before Treatment
General Preparation:
1. Laundry:
o Wash all clothing, bed linens, and curtains in hot water.
o Dry on high heat for at least 45 minutes.
o Place cleaned items in new, garbage bags or containers.
2. Declutter:
o Remove clutter from all rooms, especially bedrooms and living areas.
o Empty dresser drawers, nightstands, and closets. Place items in sealed bags or
containers.
3. Furniture:
o Move all furniture 12 inches away from walls.
o Stand mattresses and box springs upright against the wall to expose the bedframe
and provide us with access to all sides of the boxsprings and mattresses.
o Empty bookshelves and other storage units near the treatment area.
4. Vacuuming:
o Vacuum mattresses, furniture, and floors thoroughly.
o Discard vacuum bags immediately in a sealed plastic bag. For bagless vacuums,
wash the canister with hot, soapy water.

5. Electronics and Walls:
o Unplug all electronics.
o Remove pictures, mirrors, and wall decorations.

Specific Items:
• Stuffed Toys: Place in the dryer on high heat for 40–45 minutes.
• Baby Items: Wash crib linens and toys in hot water and dry on high heat.

Day of Treatment
• All occupants (including pets) must vacate the home for 6 hours after the treatment and
during.

• Cover fish tanks and turn off air pumps.

After Treatment
• Do not re-enter the home until the specified time has passed.
• Avoid cleaning treated areas for 10 days.
Important Notes
• Avoid opening sealed bags or containers until treatment is complete.
